Not the quick way…

I was reading the section in Exodus when God leads the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.

Exodus 13:17-18
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.” But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle.

I can relate to this and I’m thankful for God’s goodness and grace in our own journey towards our promised land, Colombia. We as a family have learned so much about God though this process. Who knows? If we had gotten to Colombia sooner, we may have been discouraged to the point of wanting to leave the field.

Here is my favorite part. The Israelites left the land equipped for battle. When we are ready to leave, I’m confident we will leave having been equipped by God to take on the challenges.
