We want to cultivate a vibrant faith, by God’s transformation in our lives.
We are seeing excitement and signs of growing faith in the youth of our church in just the first few meetings of our “3D Youth” group. Since October, every 3rd Sunday of the month, we invite the youth of our church to join us for breakfast and a devotional discussion before walking to church together for the service. Two great things: the youth are interested and engaged in learning biblical truths, and they love American-style home fries! Another exciting aspect of taking on this ministry is the opportunity to mentor two younger couples who’ve volunteered to work in this ministry area while simultaneously serving the youth. We look forward to seeing how God works through this ministry to strengthen the faith of our young people. Thanks to those who purchased dishes and utensils for us to use when hosting these bigger groups in our home!

January will mark SIX years of life and ministry in Colombia!
2024 saw us complete our first year the Raíces Profundas (Deep Roots) family discipleship ministry with our team! Our team had the opportunity to facilitate 2 additional marriage workshops in the fourth quarter. All six of us facilitated break out groups with couple during a marriage event hosted by a church in neighboring city Sabaneta in (October), then Kyu and I spent several hours with a small group working through the same material in November.
December is very busy in Colombia, but we were able to prepare for, record, edit and publish the very first episode of the Deep Roots podcast, launching a series on dealing with conflict in the family. Thanks to those of you who purchased some of the podcasting gear for us to use!

2024 Gratitude
🔹 We rejoice in our first full year of Deep Roots ministry, including a February family conference, a September homeschool expo, marriage workshops (May/Oct/Nov), weekly virtual prayer community, and the premiere of a family discipleship podcast.
🔹 We rejoice that there is continued opportunity for work in this area, that our Deep Roots team desires to continue, that we have joy in our teamwork, and that we have been able to work with churches and believers from many parts of the city.
🔹 We rejoice that Kyu and Travis (missionary from another org) have been able to complete 25 oral Bible story recordings in Embera-Katio. Featuring the voice of an indigenous language assistant, these recordings help share Biblical narratives among this displaced indigenous group with no written language.

🔹 We rejoice that I (Anna) was able to make a cool connection with another missionary she met at the Avant women’s leadership event. “E” and her husband serve in church planting in Burgos, Spain, where some Venezuelan/Colombian friends of ours recently moved. When I realized this, I was able to connect these dear friends with this Avant missionary couple, and we can’t see how God grows His kingdom in that city!
2025…coming in hot
In January, we will be traveling to Peru for 2.5 weeks to visit Kyu’s parents, and also participate as invited speakers at the annual AMED (VBS curriculum) conference (Saturday, Jan. 11). Kyu will also have opportunities to preach at the Monterrico church in Lima (Sundays, Jan. 12 and 19).
In February, we will host our second annual family discipleship conference in Envigado (Medellín), Colombia (Saturday, Feb. 8). Our Avant ministry directors will join us as speakers, and many other details still remain to be worked out.
Kim Kids Highlight
To see the Christmas lights this year, we did an electric bike tour. The girls had a blast, and we agreed electric bikes are great for navigating the hilly parts of the city!
Prayer Requests
- That we would be well prepared for our speaking opportunities in Peru, and that the Lord would encourage and equip people through what we feel led to share.
- That we would have safety in travel.
- That the Raíces Profundas podcast would truly equip parents in their family discipleship.
- That our Raíces Profundas team would be highly organized and creative, ready for our 2nd family discipleship conference in February.
That the Lord would continue to empower us to serve Him faithfully and to grow in love for others. That he would provide for our personal and ministry costs.

We are so grateful for everyone who has prayed for us, provided specific resources, given faithfully, or recently joined us in partnership to support our family and the Kingdom work we are doing in Colombia.
Earlier this year, we took a pay cut to adjust to a decrease in support. However, with so many amazing opportunities for ministry ahead, now is the perfect time to consider becoming a monthly partner or increasing your current level of support.
