Never occurred to me that Jesus had to deal with being labeled a religious liberal until I was reading Matthew 11:18-19.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.

It’s sad that even today we miss the point. I’m guilty too. It’s easy to point at a person or group of people and say that their priorities aren’t right simply because they are associated with certain behaviors or with certain groups of people. Next time, stop and check their deeds. Then feel free to speak.
