I’m feeling nostalgic sitting here at the Hive. Many shared memories, food, music, and conversations happened down here. Cedarville alumni will know exactly what I’m talking about. Here is a link (theHive) for those who are not familiar.
I took the opportunity to visit campus during homecoming weekend. Figured it would be a great opportunity to get reacquainted and share our ministry vision with people I hadn’t seen in a while. God has been good and I have not been disappointed with this trip.
Specifically met with faculty and staff involved in graphic design. It may be some time before this idea comes to fruition but I figured I’d shared it. Maybe, someone reading this will be interested and will want to participate in this endeavor…
The following sentence isn’t about the idea, but it should help provide context to what I’m about to propose. One of the ministry visions for Colombia is to establish a non profit design/marketing agency with the main goal of equipping and helping the local church, pastors, and missionaries.
How cool would it be if in the future, we have a team of short term missionaries composed of graphic designers that go to Colombia to run a design workshop. We would let the community know that there is a group of American graphic designers that will teach Photoshop, web design, typography, etc. We would partner with the local church and would invite people to participate. Of course, we would be teaching the Bible via this design workshop. I’m hoping that a specialized mission team like this will achieve the following:
- Share the Gospel with people who normally wouldn’t come to church
- Helps the local church identify people with design talents
- Develop these newly discovered talents and invite them to participate at church
- Allows the mission team members to use their professional skills and talents for kingdom work
Of course, there are so many other possibilities and opportunities. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. It would be my pleasure to brainstorm new ideas. Call my cell or text me @ 740-485-3347
