Last week, we were able to join many of our current (Camino Global) and future (Avant) missionary coworkers in Quito, Ecuador for TVFESALACAM. Of course, this acronym was a joke…because we all know how insider lingo gets out of hand. (Just in case you’re dying to know, it stands for The Very First Ever Second Annual Latin America Conference for Avant Missionaries.)
We enjoyed 5 days full of shared prayer time, refreshing Biblical teaching, beautiful worship, and simple fellowship over shared meals. We were the “newbies” to the field, with 4 months’ experience in Colombia. What a privilege to rub shoulders with missionaries who have been serving for decades–even up to 50 years of cross-cultural ministry! We heard what God has been doing around Latin America, and left encouraged and strengthened to continue moving forward in our year of orientation and adaptation.
We were introduced to a new song this week, and it offers such a refreshing word of truth! In our room full of missionaries and home office staff, this song was often sung with tears of joy and relief springing to our eyes. We hope its message will also encourage you as you follow and serve the Lord.
He is with us, and our labor is not in vain!
