reading LARGE

Monica* has been a consistent participant in a Bible study that started 4 weeks ago. She owns a Bible but admitted to us that it is a challenge to read it. “The size of the letters makes me dizzy, and it gives me a headache.”

Last week, we had the privilege of giving her a new large print Bible. With a smile on her face, she jumped in to read the assigned Bible verses aloud. For the first time in a while, she could see the words clearly!

At the close of our study time, both Monica* and Martina* (who also received a large print Bible) said their Bibles were the best gifts they have ever received. For people who are unable to obtain glasses, this gift is making a tangible difference! With access to the Word of God, they are beginning to have hope. There is a visible change in each woman’s countenance, from worry to joy. Little by little, they are learning about peace through God’s Word. It has been our joy to witness God’s work in these two women.

“This (Bible) is the best gift I’ve ever received.”

Around the world today, many people are still unable or are unequipped to read the Bible. Some language groups do not yet have the Bible translated into their language. Some individuals are illiterate or have only rudimentary reading ability. Others find spiritual and theological vocabulary too complex to understand. And still others cannot physically see the words in a standard printing of the Bible, and do not have the resources to purchase a large print Bible.

Gifting large print Bibles to those who need them is a simple way we have found to be able to help people dig into God’s word.

We are excited to continue giving large print Bibles to those who can benefit from them. If you are interested in joining us in this, we can purchase them here in Colombia for around $60 USD. You can make a special donation to our account at Avant Ministries. Then please email us at kkim@avmi.org to let us know, so we can keep a log of funds available to purchase Bibles.
